A Brief Update

It’s been a little while, so forgive me if this post is a somewhat dry. I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving.  I’ve been busy and emotionally up and down, as has my weight. More on that later. We all had a chest cold thing for pretty much all of October, and then my two oldest ended up with what the doctor SAID was H1N1, but I’m not so sure since they said it was more contagious than the seasonal flu, but the rest of us didn’t get it.  They didn’t test them.  Whether it was H1N1 or not, the Tamiflu they took seemed to help a lot.

A lady’s car broke down in front of our house, and I’m glad we were home.  Neither of the ladies had cell phones with them, so I made a couple of calls and let them use our phone book and phone if needed.  I don’t think they had tow service with their insurance. They used the hose because they thought it might be the radiator.  Nope.  Tried jumping it.  Nope.  One of our friends drove over to take a look at it, and he was able to tell them that it was the starter.  He gave them a ride to where they needed to go to make arrangements to have it towed, but before they left, they both thanked me and gave me a hug because by the time they left, it was like we were old friends. I just wish I could have done more.

Fast forward to Thanksgiving.  Mmmmm.  Enough said.  Really, I have a lot to be thankful for, my family, my friends, provision.  All else above that is abundance.  Friday, my sister offered to take our kids for a few hours.  We decided to avoid the throngs of madness in the stores and see “The Blind Side”.  If you haven’t seen it, see it.  It’s an amazing story.

The weekend after Thanksgiving saw a lot of laundry.  I mean, a lot, thanks to my hubby who tackled that mountain with all the passion of a Southern Baptist preacher.  That mountain is no more.  The weekend also saw Christmas decorating.  Inside only, since the lighted Merry Christmas sign we put out on the lawn this year read “Merry Chris  as”.  Turns out is was just a loose bulb, but once that was working, of course other lawn lights started not working.  So they’re out there, we just have yet to fix them and turn them on.  We’ll see if the icicle lights we bought to replace the dead strings will end up on the house or returned.  My hope, ahem, bet is that they’re returned.  With all else going on, there are just higher priorities than spending an afternoon putting up lights.  Such as mount laundry, which I’m certain will reappear once the kids empty their hampers.

So now we’re back to our normal routine till the school break, plus the Holiday Hustle (come on, do the dance with me everyone…), but that’s for another post.
